The Singleton of Glen Ord 39 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky, Speyside, Scotland
It’s finally here: the longest double maturation from The Singleton.
If someone asks if you like Singleton Single Malt Whisky, the correct response is "Which one?" There are three: The Singleton of Glendullan, The Singleton of Glen Ord, and The Singleton of Dufftown. Each distillery is awesome in its own way. All are Highlanders, all are used in premium blends, all have versions of The Singleton, and each has their own Single Malt brand as well. Two are Speyside, and one — Glen Ord — is Ross-shire. Some say the distinction is all marketing spin… we disagree. We love them all, but there is something about the limestone-filtered spring water in Ross-shire.
The Singleton 39 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky is a rare vintage that began its journey as a 12YO Singelton malt Whisky 27 years ago. It was then that Master Distiller Maureen Robinson who has been with Diageo for more than 40 years put the precious liquid in hand-selected European oak casks that used to house Port Wine, Red Wine, and a blend of PX and Oloroso Wines. Then, more than a quarter of a century later, Robinson married the casks in ex-French Bordeaux casks. This makes this incredible bottling 39 years old!
This complex and indulgent concoction marries Robinson’s impressive work in Scotland with her travels in French wineries. What does a dram of this age, bottled at cask strength, taste like? Think sumptuous crumbled muscovado sugar and rich and succulent blackberries shining through lavish Whisky flavors. Only 1,695 bottles released in the world.
