Tanglin Black Powder Gin, Singapore
Tanglin Black Powder Gin, Singapore
A truly exceptional Gin from Singapore that will turn your head.
Tanglin Gin was founded in 2018 as Singapore’s first Gin distillery. They made an immediate splash in the market with a fresh, Asian-influenced take on the classic beverage — winning awards around the world. An handful of distilleries have followed suit, creating a kind go Gin-Renascence in the city-state. We’ve tasted several of their crafted Spirits and they are all exceptional.
Tanglin is exceptionally proud of one of there newest editions — Tanglin Black Powder Gin. And they should be. This Gin won a Double Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. And as a reminder, “Double Gold” means that not only did the fifty-six judges rank it as the best, they did so unanimously.
It starts with the same formulation as their Orchid Gin — that means there are classic botanical plus Indian amchoor (powdered green mango), and vanilla planifolia orchids. But they set this version apart by bruising half of the juniper berries to release more essential oils, include whole lemons, and bottle it at 58% ABV.
Smartass Corner:
Tanglin is an exclusive residential district in the heart of Singapore filled with mansions, embassies, and luxury grand hotels. The name “Tanglin” is a Maylay pronunciation of the Chinese phrase “Twa Tang Leng” — “Great East Hill Peaks.” Before urbanization, the Tanglin area was known for its tigers and the growing of spices. It’s truly exceptional.
