Big Bourbon bang for your buck.
Taconic distillery calls Hudson Valley home. Surrounded by historic landmarks and bountiful farms, the Coughlin family set up shop in 2010, converting a portion of Laured Beef Farms into Rolling Hills. The whopping 113-acre farm proved to be a great segue into the local, Duchess County agribusiness market.
Hudson Valley is a fertile area in terms of gastro-culture. A richly historical, famed Wine-producing region, it is also home to a world-class culinary institute. Taconic prides itself on preserving a storied Bourbon Whiskey tradition, from George and Martha Washington’s home, to the Great Estates of the Vanderbilt's, Roosevelt's and Rockefeller's, “Bourbon Whiskey has been savored for generations.” These Taconic hippies like their Spirits non-chill filtered and unadulterated to retain the Whiskey's true nature. They usually distill their Whiskeys below 160 proof and age them in Coopers Select, Char #3 new oak barrels made by the Independent Stave Company.
For Taconic Cask Strength Straight Bourbon Whiskey, Taconic guys take their best Bourbon, put it in new American oak barrels for a while, and then finish it in Mizunara casks. Mind you, these are no cheap casks so what you’re getting is good bang for your buck. The result is subtle and smooth with spectacular flavors of sweet vanilla, caramel, and baking spices. A great Bourbon addition to your home bar that you can sip neat, on the rocks, or in a cocktail.
