Smooth Ambler Old Scout Single Barrel Bourbon Whiskey, USA
Smooth Ambler Old Scout Single Barrel Bourbon Whiskey, USA
The feral Single Barrel: Miss it at your own peril.
Smooth Ambler is one of the oldest craft Whiskey producers in the United States which used to source Whiskey from other merchants and married it with their own Spirit. Located in the rural Greenbrier Valley of West Virginia, Smooth Ambler takes advantage of every natural resource: mountain air, clean water springs, and ideal temperature variations. Appalachia has always been known for good Whiskey and Smooth Ambler, established in 2009, brings forth a variety of different Spirits, among them a single barrel Straight Bourbon called Old Scout.
This bottling is selected from a single barrel hand-picked by the owner and is made from 60% corn, 36% rye and 4% malted barley, which makes it a "high rye" Bourbon. Single barrel Whiskeys are uniform in color and flavor. What's more, Old Scout has been bottled at cask strength, so no diluting for this guy. Single Barrel Old Scout won a gold medal from the American Distilling Institute, a silver medal at San Francisco Spirits Competition, and it's been named World's best single barrel in 2016.
