Creyente Espadin Mezcal Joven, Oaxaca, Mexico
Cher was once asking if you believe in life after love and we think Creyente Mezcal Joven would be right there screaming ‘Yes!’.
Creyente means believer in Spanish and they live by the motto that anything is possible – but only if you believe in it. In 2016, Creyente was launched by the tequila giant José Cuervo, owned by Proximo Spirits, and their single blended Mezcal offering was presented to the market.
A sort of a hybrid animal, Creyente Mezcal Joven is blended from two mezcals from Oaxaca's Tlacolula and Yautepec regions respectively. In Tlacolula, the agave was harvested from the rich soils, while in Yautepec, it comes from the wild and mountainous terrain.
Made with 100% Espadin agave, both mezcals are distilled with traditional methods that have been in place for centuries before being blended and bottled at 80 proof. The full body is synonymous with the elusive jaguar – the one you can admire on the bottle. Then, you've got the sweet hints of fruit and light herbal notes – these are the nimble legs of the antelope. And for the cherry on top, that signature smoky mesquite wood flavor brings these elements together – that's the golden eagle of Mexico. It's all very layered and multifaceted, a bit like good cake or you know, the human soul.
