A gorgeous Extra Añejo Tequila aged seven years in Jack Daniels barrels and one more in ex-Cognac cask for a truly elegant finish.

About eighty miles due east of Guadalajara is the town of Arandas in the Highlands (Los Altos) of Jalisco, Mexico. Don Jose Luna had been traveling back and forth for decades to visit family and friends there. He would bring back bottles of Tequila from craft producers in the region — a tradition picked up by the next generation. In 2014 the Luna family teamed up with family friend Phil Salvagio to bring the Tequila to a wider audience. That’s how the line of four premium CaliFino Tequilas was born.

Quite frankly, CaliFino Tequila Extra Añejo has some of the most sophisticated aging we’ve seen in a Tequila this year. Sure… you get all the basics. That means 100% Weber Blue Agave, slow roasting in stone ovens, and fermenting for three days using natural yeasts. But after double-distillation, this deeply-colored, ruddy-bronze Spirit sleeps for seven full years in Jack Daniels barrels. But they’re not done yet. This is a double-wood Tequila because it is transferred to finish for another full year in ex-Cognac casks.

If that doesn’t impress you, then we don’t know what will.
