The Bushmills Distillery claims to be — and is almost unanimously considered to be — the oldest licensed distillery in the world. They have been in continuous operation and growing since 1885. Jose Cuervo purchased the Old Bushmills Distillery from Diageo in 2014, but the suits know to stay out of the way of Irishman crafting their Whiskey.
Meet one of their greatest Whiskeys ever made. Bushmills 16 Year Old Single Malt is matured for about 15 years in a combination of American Bourbon barrels and Spanish Oloroso Sherry butts before it’s finished in Port Wine pipes — each of which contributes extra nuances to its flavors of juicy fruits, nuts, and spices. You should really savor it neat or with a single cube of ice, if you must.
