Broken Barrel Amontillado Cask Whiskey, California, USA
Broken Barrel Amontillado Cask Whiskey, California, USA
A deeply complex and full-flavored Whiskey blend finished with staves of rare Spanish Amontillado.
Infuse Spirits is aptly named. Seth Benhaim started infusing Spirits in his garage in 2012 at the age of twenty-five — becoming the youngest brand owner to ever win Best-In-Show and Double Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. He’s our kind of guy.
While Infuse Spirits Vodkas and Bitters are infused with natural spices and fruits, their Whiskies are infused with staves from other barrels of a variety of wood types — from Whiskey and Sherry to Wine, Single Malt, and more. They even use exotic woods like Mizunara and French oak. This is how they named their “Broken Barrel” line of Whiskies.
One of the latest editions in the Broken Barrel line is a limited edition blend of 12-year-old American Whiskey from Indiana and 5-year-old corn Whiskey from Kentucky. After marrying, the Spirit is finished in casks with staves from fine Amontillado casks. The influence of those ancient staves permeates the aroma and palate with notes of exotic woods and deep earthy notes that border on umami. And since this limited edition is bottled at 55% ABV, you will savor every nuance. The bottle design must be mentioned, featuring custom art by Joshua Zingerman and inspired by the classic Edger Allan Poe story.
Smartass Corner:
“The Cask of Amontillado” is a short story written by the famous Gothic writer Edgar Allan Poe in which the offended Montresor lures the intoxicated Fortunato into the catacombs to murder him by promising a taste from a rare cask of fine Spanish Amontillado Wine.
