Founded in 1829 in Aÿ by Hennequin de Villermont, Paul Renaudin and Jacques Bollinger, the Bollinger Champagne house is still run today by members of the Bollinger family, who (in a feat rarely seen in the Champagne world) owns almost 100% of its vineyards. By controlling production from start to finish, Bollinger has earned a reputation synonymous with quality and sophistication — in fact, in 1884 Bollinger became the official supplier to the British court, receiving a Royal Warrant from Queen Victoria.
Bollinger first appeared on screen with James Bond in the 1973 film Live or Let Die, and since then the two dynasties have had a close relationship. In the legendary 1979 film Moonraker, Bond famously says: “Bollinger? If it is a ‘69, you were expecting me.”
To commemorate this lasting partnership, along with the new James Bond film, Spectre Bollinger has released a brand-new, SPECTRE Limited Edition bottling. The Champagne itself is a vintage Bollinger cuvée from 2009 which “reflects perfectly the House style — the terroir and the aromatic richness are beautifully enhanced in this blend,” according to Bollinger Chef de Cave Gilles Descôte.
The Champagne — which is made from 68% Pinot Noir and 32% Chardonnay grapes — has a light, airy scent of vanilla and lemon, along with flavors of pears and hazelnut on the body and a dry, toasty finish.
Encased in a sleek Carré Basset designed black cool-box, this Champagne is sure to be a hit with Bond fans everywhere. Pick up your bottle today!
