Ardbeg 'Ardcore' Single Malt Scotch Whisky, Islay, Scotland

Each year, Ardbeg joins the Fèis Ìle festivites, where the entire island of Islay erupts in the ultimate whisky festival. With over 120,000 global members, the Ardbeg Committee serves the common purpose of celebrating Ardbeg whisky through a series of limited-edition whisky releases such as the Ardcore, available as a standard 92-proof release, and a Committee-exclusive that's bottled at 100.2 proof. Released in 2022, the whisky was distilled from a mash bill of 75% distilling malt (light- to medium-peated malt instead of Ardbeg's super-heavily peated malt) and 25% black malt, marking the first time that the letter was used in the production of Ardbeg whisky. The heavily roasted malt makes for an expression that was compared by Ardbeg's Dr. Bill Lumsden to "biting on a spiky ball."
