Arbikie Highland Rye 1794 Single Grain Scotch Whisky, Scotland
Arbikie Highland Rye 1794 Single Grain Scotch Whisky, Scotland
The first Scottish Rye Whisky in a century!
The Arbikie Highland Estate Distillery was founded in 2013 by the Stirling Brothers, but the earliest recorded mention of a distillery on that farm goes back to 1794. They turned their grain into Scotch, Gin, and Vodka, and when they decided for a historic move to make the first Scottish Rye Whisky in a hundred years, they started growing that as well. Their farm, their soil and seeds, their water, and their stills, the Bros. like to say, while the expertise comes from Master Distiller Kirsty Black.
Now, Rye Whisky has to be classified as Grain Whisky in Scotland, and Arbikie 1794 uses a mash bill of Arantey rye, Viscount wheat, and Oddysey barley malt. This release was matured in new charred American oak and bottled at 48% ABV. Full-bodied, exciting, unique, and important dram!
