Altos Tequila Anejo, Jalisco, Mexico
A well-aged Añejo Tequila with a spicy kick and remarkably creamy mouth-feel.
Henry Besant and Dre Masso were a couple of award-winning bartenders in the UK… isn’t that the great start to a story? Especially when the story ends with a great bottle of Tequila. The two friends set out to create a high-quality, cocktail-friendly Tequila. And since Tequila in the UK is fairly expensive, they wanted to create a great value too. Thus, Altos Tequila was born. True to their mission, their Tequilas — Plata (silver), Reposada, Añejo, and limited edition releases — are sustainably harvested 100% Weber Blue Agave. Interestingly, half of their agave piñas are ground using the "tahona process", the other 50% in stainless steel roller mills.
Olmeca Altos Tequila Añejo was released in May of 2016 and already has three major Tequila industry awards to its credit. And while it is more common for Añejos to only age for a year, Olmeca Altos Tequila Añejo is aged for a full eighteen months in 53-gallon ex-Bourbon casks, and that makes a huge difference, delivering a creamy texture and a warm herbal and nut flavor profile that elevates the dram.
