A. D. Rattray has been an independent bottler of Whisky since 1868. Since those early times they have distributed dozens of classic malt Whisky brands and created a few of their own, sourced from the smaller boutique distilleries of Scotland. They are not only an independent distributor and bottler, they are also historians and keepers of the Whisky faith via their “Whisky Experience” facility in South Ayrshire.
These days their house brands include the uniquely re-born and revitalized Stronachie, Cask Islay, Bank Note, and their famous Cask Collection series of specially sourced individual barrels of Scotland’s most famous Single Malts.
Tobermory is the last remaining distillery on the Isle of Mull, north of Islay. They produce their namesake Tobermory Single Malt — with a light, almost Highland style — and their peated Ledaig Single Malt. Ledaig 9 Year Old Single Malt is a special bottling of this sought-after, peaty Single Malt from A.D. Rattray’s Cask Collection. The barley is dried directly over smoldering peat, imparting the smoky-briny flavor the way has been for hundreds of years. It is aged nine full years in ex-Bourbon casks and bottled at a blistering 59.7% ABV without artificial colors or other nastiness.
