Aberfeldy 16 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky, Highlands, Scotland
Aberfeldy 16 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky, Highlands, Scotland
Aberfeldy is the pride of Perth, and this Sherry-finished sixteen year-old is something to be proud of.
Aberfeldy is a smaller production house in the Highlands along the River Tay. It was actually founded by John Dewer himself in 1896. And even though Dewers is a large producer and a subsidiary of Bacardi, Little Aberfeldy occupies a special spot in their history. In fact, of all the locations possible, Dewers has located their museum and their "World of Whisky" attraction there.
They keep things simple at Aberfeldy. All of their grain is locally grown and they use only native Scottish yeasts. The water flows from a stream passing by the distillery — Pitilie Burn. All of their Whisky is aged in ex-Bourbon casks on site. Don’t you just love it when a division of a large company like Dewers and Bacardi keep one foot firmly planted in the past like this?
Aberfeldy 16 Year Old was released as a part of the acclaimed "Last Great Malts" series in 2015. It is classic Aberfeldy Single Malt aged sixteen years in ex-Bourbon casks and finished in Oloroso Sherry casks. This is a straight, time-tested combination that has produced some of the best Single Malt Whiskies. It is a fruit-forward, juicy dram bottled at 40% ABV.
