The 2013 expression is the 75th Grand Vintage of the house of Moët & Chandon, seemingly perfecting their process since 1842 when the first one was released. Each Grand Vintage is made from the grapes of a singular exceptional year’s harvest and is therefore a unique interpretation of the year. The 2013 expression is a product of a very late harvest. The grapes have lived to see the very last of the autumn sun and the Champagne exhibits that in its warm, autumnal notes, golden hue, and persistent bubbles. It is made from 41% Chardonnay, 38% Pinot Noir, and 21% Meunier, all of which are grown in the heart of the Champagne country. After blending, this Champagne rested deep inside the house cellars for 7 years, protected from winds and sun rays to reach its full expression. The Champagne reaches a final dosage of 5/g, making this beautiful spirit Extra Brut. After the maturation process, the bottles are riddled, disgorged, and put aside to rest for at least 6 more months.
