Barton 1729 Distillery may carry that number, but it was actually established in 1879 (1729 is when the Commonwealth of Kentucky joined the Union). Barton is the oldest operating distillery in Bardstown, Kentucky. It's located near the crystalline Tom Moore Spring and on the 196 acres, 29 barrel aging warehouses found their home. Another important year is 1897 when the Bottled-in-Bond Act was enacted and made sure American Whiskey is of top-notch quality.
True to this tradition, Barton 1729 released a sexy release called Bottled in Bond, which is bottled at exactly 100 proof, bringing boldness and no-bullshit strength to your palate. Now, this very expression bears no age statement, but if a Spirit wants to be bottled in bond, it has to be at least 4 years old. It's a yearly release where Barton offers a new batch each fall. It's unmistakably a Barton 1729 Bourbon, but it comes with a unique twist and history to back it up.
