Cuestion Tequila Anejo, Jalisco, Mexico
Tennessee meets Jalisco in a smooth, traditional añejo Tequila.
Jesus Dominguez Figueroa and Jose Marquez Ochoa founded Cuestion Spirits in 2007 in Los Altos Jalisco. At first they only sold their Tequilas within Mexico, but their traditional approach to Tequila making and unique branding style quickly grabbed the attention of Jason Fandrich who partnered with them to bring their Tequilas to the rest of the world in 2009. Their line is limited to premium Tequilas — a blanco, a reposado, and añejo.
OK… let’s be honest. The first thing you notice about any Cuestion Tequila is the upside-down question mark shape of the decanter. It’s completely unique and darn clever. But once you get past the memorable packaging you discover that Cuestion Tequila Añejo is 100% Weber Blue Agave Tequila aged eighteen months. Officially, that aging takes place in “fire-cured American Oak whiskey barrels imported from Lynchburg, Tennessee.” You and us know that means Jack Daniels Tennessee Whiskey casks, which imparts rich chocolate and fruit notes to this Mexican spirit.
Smartass corner:
The upside-down questions mark decanter makes sense grammatically… in Spanish. When you write in Spanish, you place upside-down exclamation points and question market at the beginning of sentences to let the reader know how to read the text. Right-side-up version appear at the end of the sentences.
