Codigo 1530 Artesanal Mezcal, Mexico
Codigo 1530 Artesanal Mezcal, Mexico
A unique Mezcal that tastes of an age gone by.
Código 1530 knows well that "the best stuff" in Mexico is not for sale. Unless, of course, you just happen to make friends with the locals from a small village of Amatitán, who have been making an elixir known only to a few for generations and are willing to sell you their families' liquid legacy in small batches.
The folks at Código 1530 don't cut corners and firmly believe the best stuff can only be made using age-old traditions, secret family distilling processes, hard work, and love for the juice. Their Tequila and Mezcal feature no chemicals, no flavoring, no sugar, just the rich, natural flavors of the local Agave and Maguey, and the finest Napa Cabernet French white oak barrels for a uniquely delicate finish.
Código 1530 Artesanal Mezcal honors the traditions of the style, incorporating a donkey-pulled tahona wheel, wild fermentation with begasso, and copper still for distillation. This expression features various terroirs that reflect the flavors of different elevation regions of Oaxaca. This includes a wild tobalá incorporated in the process, for the bolder notes of western Oaxaca. The juice is then rested in Sauvignon Blanc Wine barrels to take advantage of the herbaceous aroma to create a truly unique Mezcal.
