Charles Jacquin moved from France to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founding the Jacquin's brand of cordials in 1884. The company survived Prohibition by switching to alcohol-free cordials. The company is a prominent distiller and importer today, with several products ranging from spirits to food. Today, it is family-run, John A. Cooper being the 3rd-generation owner and CEO.
Chambord is a raspberry liqueur that takes its inspiration from a 17th-century French liqueur. In 1982, Norton "Sky" Cooper crafted the liqueur at the family company. The Chambord brand has been owned by Brown Forman since 2006. Chambord is crafted at the Loire Valley, starting with the first infusion that extracts the juices of blackberries, raspberries, and blackcurrants. These are mixed with French spirits and left to infuse for 4 months. The berries are pressed during the second infusion, producing a rich and silky base for the Chambord. Finally, the infusion is blended with all-natural berry flavors, as well as XO cognac, Madagascan vanilla, Moroccan citrus peel, honey, and aromatic spices that include ginger, cloves, nutmeg, and cinnamon.
Bottled at 33 proof, Chambord Black Raspberry Liqueur has become a bar staple. While it's the perfect addition for many cocktails, pairing especially well with vanilla and chocolate notes, its profile is packed with berry flavors, making it a delicious digestif.
